What is Bubble Shooter?
Bubble Shooter is one of the most enduring genres in casual gaming: a colorful match-three puzzle played from a fixed launcher at the bottom of the screen. Rather than swiping tiles around a grid, you aim and fire a bubble upward, hoping to connect it with two or more bubbles of the same color already hanging from the ceiling. When three or more bubbles of a matching color touch, they burst in a satisfying chain, and anything left dangling without a connection to the ceiling tumbles away for bonus points. It sounds simple, and the first few levels are, but the genre has quietly become one of the deepest puzzle formats around thanks to wall-bounce trick shots, special bubbles, and boosters that reward planning several moves ahead.
This free HTML5 version was built from scratch using nothing but the Canvas API, vanilla JavaScript, and the Web Audio API โ no plugins, no frameworks, and no external assets to download. That means the entire game, all 1,000 campaign levels included, loads once and can then be played completely offline, whether you're on a laptop, a tablet, or a phone with a shaky connection.
History of Bubble Shooter
The bubble-popping formula traces back to Puzzle Bobble (known as Bust-a-Move outside Japan), an arcade cabinet released by Taito in the mid-1990s that paired two dragon mascots with a simple but addictive shooting mechanic. The idea spread quickly to home consoles, then to browser Flash games in the early 2000s, where countless clones cemented "Bubble Shooter" as a genre name in its own right rather than a single title. When Flash was retired, HTML5 and the Canvas API picked up the torch, letting the same core mechanic run natively in any modern browser without a plugin. Today's version continues that lineage while adding modern conveniences: automatic cloud-ready save data, a 1,000-level campaign, boosters, and daily challenges that give players a reason to return every day.
How to Play
Choose a Mode
Pick Campaign to progress through 1,000 levels, or jump into Daily Challenge, Endless, Timed, Relax, or Kids mode.
Aim
Move your mouse, finger, or arrow keys to angle the bubble launcher at the bottom of the board.
Shoot
Click, tap, or press space to fire. The bubble travels in a straight line and bounces off the side walls.
Match Three
Connect three or more bubbles of the same color and they pop instantly, along with anything left floating.
Use Wall Bounces
Bank difficult shots off the left or right wall to reach awkward gaps other players would miss.
Trigger Combos
Popping multiple groups back-to-back multiplies your score and fills the combo meter.
Use Boosters Wisely
Save bombs, rainbow shots, and lasers for tricky formations โ they're limited, so spend them with intent.
Clear the Objective
Pop every bubble on the board before your moves run out to complete the level.
Earn Rewards
Every level pays out XP, coins, gems, and up to three stars based on efficiency.
Climb the Ranks
Unlock progressively harder tiers, from Beginner all the way to Grandmaster, and chase a spot among the legends.

Bubble Types
Bomb Bubble
Explodes on impact, clearing every bubble in a radius around it โ perfect for dense clusters.
Rainbow Bubble
Counts as any color, letting it complete a match regardless of what surrounds it.
Fire Bubble
Burns through an entire connected chain of same-color bubbles for extra reach.
Lightning Bubble
Zaps the full row it lands on, instantly clearing anything in its path.
Ice Bubble
Frozen solid โ it takes two matching hits to fully melt and pop.
Stone Bubble
Cannot be matched by color at all; only bombs, lasers, or lightning can remove it.
Locked Bubble
Held in place by a chain that breaks after nearby bubbles are popped a few times.
Ghost Bubble
Rendered semi-transparent, testing your memory of where it's hiding in the formation.
Star Bubble
Awards bonus stars and score the moment it's popped, on top of the normal match reward.
Crystal Bubble
A tough, high-value bubble that needs two hits but pays out generous bonus coins.
Booster Guide
Aim Guide
Extends the trajectory line further up the board so tricky bank shots become easier to line up.
Bubble Swap
Instantly swaps your current bubble with the one in the queue when neither color helps you.
Bomb
Drops an instant explosion on the board, clearing a cluster without needing to land a shot first.
Rainbow Shot
Turns your very next shot into a rainbow bubble that matches any color it touches.
Time Freeze
Pauses the countdown in Timed Mode so you can plan a complex chain reaction calmly.
Extra Moves
Adds five additional shots to a limited-move level โ a lifesaver on Hard tier and above.
Double Score
Doubles every point earned for the next thirty seconds of play.
Laser Beam
Fires a beam that clears an entire column instantly, ignoring color altogether.
Color Clear
Removes every bubble of one chosen color from the board in a single tap.
Shuffle Board
Rearranges the remaining bubbles when the board has become impossible to progress on.
Scoring System
Each popped bubble is worth a base amount of points that scales with the current combo multiplier. Bubbles that fall because they were no longer connected to the ceiling โ rather than being part of a direct match โ pay out an additional falling bonus, rewarding you for setting up big cascades rather than only chasing the easiest matches. Clearing a level with moves to spare converts unused moves into a time bonus, and finishing without wasting a single shot unlocks the Perfect Level bonus along with a guaranteed three-star rating.
Campaign Progression
The 1,000-level campaign is split into seven tiers, each introducing new mechanics rather than simply repeating the same puzzle with more colors. Beginner (levels 1โ100) keeps things gentle with three colors, unlimited hints, and generous move counts so newcomers can learn the fundamentals. Easy (101โ250) adds a fourth color and simple obstacle patterns. Medium (251โ500) introduces bomb and ice bubbles alongside moving obstacles. Hard (501โ750) layers in locked and stone bubbles with tighter move limits. Expert (751โ900) adds rotating layouts and hidden targets that demand real precision. Master (901โ980) combines multiple obstacle types with very limited boosters, and Grandmaster (981โ1000) is reserved for tournament-quality layouts with the maximum difficulty the engine can generate.
Daily Challenges
Every day brings a fresh hand-picked layout in Daily Challenge mode, separate from your campaign progress, so you always have a bite-sized puzzle to solve even if you've stalled on a hard campaign level. Logging in on consecutive days builds a streak that unlocks escalating rewards โ from a small XP bonus on day one up to a legendary reward on day seven โ while Weekly and Monthly events rotate in special themed boards for players who want an extra challenge.
