Golf Solitaire: The Fast-Paced Card Classic of Par and Precision
Golf Solitaire is one of the quickest, most exhilarating single-player card games ever devised. Named after golf because the objective is to earn the lowest possible score—with zero remaining cards representing a spectacular “hole-in-one”—the game combines crisp numerical sequencing with ruthless tactical trade-offs. With 35 cards dealt in seven columns of five face-up cards, every move demands anticipation, contingency planning, and disciplined risk management.
On GamesHubOnline, our HTML5 Canvas adaptation delivers a pristine felt fairway with silky-smooth card transitions, instantaneous tap-to-move input, intelligent solver hints, unlimited undo capabilities, and procedural Web Audio feedback that makes every card snap intensely rewarding.
How to Play Golf Solitaire: Step-by-Step
- The Fairway Deal: 35 cards are dealt face-up across seven columns, each containing five overlapping cards. The remaining 17 cards form the stock draw pile. One card is flipped from the stock to initialize the waste pile.
- Playable Cards: Only the bottom-most exposed card of each column can be played. When a card is cleared to the waste pile, the card immediately above it in that column unlocks and becomes playable.
- The Sequence Rule: Any exposed column card can be played onto the waste pile if its rank is exactly one higher or one lower than the current waste card (e.g. playing a 6 or 8 on a 7), regardless of suit.
- King and Ace Wrapping: In Standard mode, Kings and Aces wrap (Queen → King → Ace → 2), allowing fluid clearing marathons. In Pro Strict mode, nothing can be played onto a King, making Kings tactical blockers that must be cleared strategically.
- Stock Management: When no playable moves remain on the bottom of the columns, tap the stock pile to turn over a fresh waste card. The stock can only be cycled once.
- Scoring and Par: Your final score is the total count of cards left on the columns when all moves are exhausted. Finishing with 4 cards remaining equals a score of 4. Clearing all 35 cards achieves a legendary 0 (Hole-in-One)!

Strategy for Shooting Under Par
Strategy 1: Clear the Longest Columns First
Always target columns with the highest number of cards remaining. Clearing a card from a 5-card column exposes a new card, whereas playing from a column with only 1 card left does not reveal any new tactical options.
Strategy 2: Seek Out Long Reversing Runs
Just like TriPeaks, Golf Solitaire allows you to alternate up and down. A sequence such as 9 → 10 → Jack → 10 → 9 → 8 → 7 removes six cards in a single breath! Always look for opportunities to pivot your run back and forth before tapping the draw pile.
Strategy 3: Beware the Strict Mode King
In Pro Strict mode, playing a King immediately halts your run because nothing can be placed on top of it except drawing from the stock. Only play a King when you are prepared to draw a fresh card on the very next turn!
